Winter Approaching |
 |
This time of year CSWoods is surrounded by snowcapped peaks and golden brown fields. We have been putting up big shade cloth curtains to protect some of the bays from the driving wind and snow this year, and the showroom is all organized and ready to keep visitors warm and cozy while they look at wood. Our warehouse along I-25 has also undergone some winter preparation so that we can open it up to visitors! Check below for times and dates and come and see us. The location is easy to get to, and we will have Eric or Imar on staff there with the forklift to give tours and help you find the wood you are looking for! |
Respectfully, Alana and the CSWoods Staff |

Books we love: The Woodbook |

The Woodbook
by Klaus Ulrich Leistikow
This is the most awesome book in our library! It is a reprint of a collection of 14 volumes originally created by Romeyn Beck Hough between 1888 and 1913. Each species in the book is represented by three cuts: cross, quartersawn and flatsawn surfaces. (The original book contained actual veneers of American woods!) An invaluable resource for identification, as well as general eye candy in the characteristics of wood grain and color, this book sees heavy use for such a fancy volume. It also includes lithographs by Charles Sprague Sargent of the leaves and nuts of most trees, as well as descriptions of geographical origins and physical characteristics. This book would make a great gift for any craftsman - we adore ours.
